Deity Inspiration - Chandra
In Sanskrit, Chandra means Moon, and the Moon is considered one of the Navagrahas, the nine heavenly bodies. Also known as Soma, Chandra governs the zodiac sign of Cancer and represents the mind, emotions, intuition, and feminine creative energy. Similar to the sun, the moon impacts aspects of our human existence, especially matters regarding water, plants, and vegetation.
Hindu mythology portrays Chandra as fair and young, with two hands holding a club and a lotus. He rides his chariot across the sky every night, pulled by either ten white horses or an antelope as depicted above. You can read more about the stories and beauty of Chandra’s legend here. As such Chandra is not ‘female’ in character, but a feminine embodiment.
